The Ancient Aqueduct

The ancient aqueduct in Novalja is the most important archaeological heritage of the island. These are underground canal - the tunnel, which was built in the 1st century AD during the Roman Empire.
He served for supply of water from the sources in the nearby Novalja field. As the water supply was built at a time when in these areas ruled the Roman Empire local residents call it Italian buža. Italian buža tunnel is entirely carved out of solid rock.
Today it is preserved in the length of 1042 m. The average width is about 60 cm to him. Height varies from 120 cm to 220 cm with a team that most of the tunnel is about 170-180 cm.
